Peacemaker Ministries Celebrates New Ministry to Lutherans
5/26/04 - Peacemaker Ministries praises God for the formation of a new peacemaking ministry to Lutherans called Ambassadors of Reconciliation™.
Peacemaker Ministries is a non-denominational, non-profit organization whose mission is to equip and assist Christians and their churches to respond to conflict biblically. Since 1982, we have served Christians, churches, and denominations in over 100 countries, and daily we uncover new opportunities for helping Christ's church cultivate a culture of peace. Peacemaker Ministries has recently reorganized to maximize its resources, to enable our staff to respond to increasing requests for peacemaking services and resources.
Since the early 1990's Peacemaker Ministries has served several Lutheran denominations, including The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Lutheran Church Canada, the India Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Lanka Lutheran Church. With an increasing interest in peacemaking from Lutheran Christians around the globe, more services and resources are needed to serve this part of the Christian church.
To meet this growing demand, Peacemaker Ministries give strong support to the founding of Ambassadors of Reconciliation to serve the Lutheran community through Lutheran conciliators, speakers, and resources consistent with the Lutheran Confessions. Ambassadors of Reconciliation is being established as an independent, non-profit corporation whose vision is Lutherans living, proclaiming and cultivating lifestyles of reconciliation.
In January 2005, Ted Kober, a lifetime Lutheran, will leave his present position at Peacemaker Ministries, Senior Ministry Consultant, to be President of this new organization. Ted has served Peacemaker Ministries since 1992 in various leadership roles, including chairman of the Board of Directors, Associate Director, and Director of Leadership Training.
Gary Friesen, Executive Vice President of Peacemaker Ministries, notes that Ted will be greatly missed on staff, but affirms that Ted's leadership in this new venture will prove invaluable to both organizations as they cooperate to fulfill their closely aligned missions.
Peacemaker Ministries' President, Ken Sande, enthusiastically endorses the new ministry: "Ambassadors of Reconciliation will bring focus and greater effectiveness to the work of biblical peacemaking in serving our Lutheran brothers and sisters. Our loss here at Peacemaker Ministries will be more than offset by the greater gain to the church. We're excited!"
We encourage our friends and supporters to join us in praising God for expanding the resources to serve his church. We ask for your continued prayers that God will bless our work together, so that all of God's people around the world will be peacemakers in their families, their vocations, and their churches.
