Personal Peacemaking Study
Biblical Peacemaking

Learning to Respond Biblically
to Personal Conflict

Welcome to the rewarding world of peacemaking!

Print-friendly Version

Do you ever wish you were consistently able to handle conflict in a way that pleases God? This study is designed to help you learn, apply, and practice biblical peacemaking skills that can be applied in family, church, and work conflicts. It will also prepare you to resolve differences with non-Christians and to use peacemaking as a witness for Christ.

Details

The resources for this study include:

These resources are available as a complete set in our Personal PeacePack, or most of them may be purchased individually through our online bookstore.

This study involves five sequential activities:

  1. Complete Case Study #1 using what you presently know about resolving conflict. Then compare your response to the detailed response provided through the link at the end of this case study. This process will help you to identify your present strengths as a peacemaker, as well as areas where you can grow.

  2. Read The Peacemaker and listen to the Shining in the Darkness CD, which provide detailed and practical guidance on how to apply God's peacemaking principles to the conflicts of everyday life.

  3. Use the Peacemaker Workbook to evaluate a current or past conflict in your life. This will move your study from the theoretical to the concrete, and help you to learn the practical aspects of peacemaking. (You may complete the workbook progressively as you read The Peacemaker, or wait until after reading the book.)

  4. Complete at least one of the remaining case studies (case #2, case #3 or case #4) and compare your response to the detailed responses provided for each case. This exercise will reveal how much you've grown as a peacemaker, and it will strengthen your ability to respond to real life conflicts in practical and God-honoring ways. If you want to learn even more, do one or both of the additional cases studies; the more you practice, the more you will learn.

  5. "Walk" someone else through the Peacemaker brochure. Explain these life-changing peacemaking principles to someone else in a relaxed setting, perhaps over coffee or lunch--it will bless the other person and deepen your own understanding of these concepts. (Optional: To imprint these concepts more deeply in your own mind, we encourage you to begin using the Key Memory Verses.)

Completion and Letter of Recognition

When you click here (link coming soon) and notify us that you have completed all five activities, we will send you a Letter of Recognition (suitable for framing) that acknowledges your successful completion of the Personal Peacemaking Study.

After completing this study, you may expand your peacemaking skills through Reconciler Training. In particular, if you have a desire to sit down with a friend over a cup of coffee and help your friend work through his/her conflict, we suggest that you attend the Conflict Coaching training. Once you have completed this training, you may want to continue with training in mediation, advanced training in marriage or church conflict resolution, or even certification as a Christian conciliator.

Case Studies

These four case studies will help you think through what it means to respond to conflict biblically in real-life settings.

Case Study #1 - Missions Committee Meltdown
Case Study #2 - Birthday Tug-of War
